Varieties assigned spatially by zone (e.g. half-bench). Treatments are RCBD-randomized independently within each variety zone.

Split plot

Each bench is a whole plot (one main treatment). Sub-treatments are randomized within. Specify whole-plot factor below.

CRD

Completely randomized. Plants assigned to positions at random with no blocking. Use when the environment is uniform.
